[srslte-users] Clarification on RSSI vs RSRP

Hi all

Maybe a silly question, but I hope someone here can help me clarify on RSSI
and RSRP measurement using the example code cell_measurement.

Using the program cell_measurement, I got the measurement results as shown
below:

SIGINT received. Exiting....4062 kHz, RSSI: -62.9 dBm, RSSI/ref-symbol:
-22.8 dBm, RSRP: -24.9 dBm, RSRQ: -10.3 dB, SNR: 6.1 dB

What I do not understand is why the RSSI (-62.9dBm) level is lower than
RSRP (-24.9 dBm) level.
Based on my understanding and what I have read, the RSSI is the total
received wide band power, while RSRP is the average power of one RS symbol.
Hence RSSI should always be larger than RSRP.

Maybe some misunderstanding here? Can someone explain.

Regards

Emilie
