Hi everyone,

We're pleased to announce the release of srsLTE 17.09 today. We're all
very excited about the new features that made it into this version.
First and foremost, we have added support for 2x2 MIMO (TM3 and TM4) to
srsUE. With this configuration, we have achieved DL speeds with srsUE
far above 100 MBit/s running on a standard i7 3GHz CPU. MIMO support has
also been added to srsENB PHY layer, but has not yet been fully
integrated with the upper layers of the application.

Secondly, we have added support for multi-cast transmissions, i.e.
eMBMS. This release has eMBMS support at the PHY layer which allows to
carry out multi-cast experiments with pdsch_enodeb and pdsch_ue. Future
releases will see these PHY-layer features fully integrated with the
srsUE and srsENB applications.

In addition to these new features, we have included many bug-fixes and
stability improvements throughout the code. These include, for example,
improvements to the srsENB scheduler supporting multiple users and
support for srsUE re-attachment across different cell configurations. We
have also significantly reduced the srsUE start-time through a number of
code optimizations.

In summary, srsLTE 17.09 features:
* MIMO 2x2 in srsUE and srsENB PHY (i.e. TM3/TM4)
* eMBMS support in srsUE PHY and srsENB PHY
* Many bug-fixes and improved stability and performance in srsUE/srsENB

Known limitations:
* Support for the LimeSDR through SoapySDR is limited to the PHY layer
examples, i.e. pdsch_enodeb and pdsch_ue.

As you've probably noticed we've changed our release naming to the
popular <year>.<month> scheme to better reflect our development process
as time goes on. Also, from this release onwards, we will be pushing
quarterly releases to get new features and functionality out to the
community on a more regular basis.

Have fun playing with it

The srsLTE team
