Im not having any problem with larger pings
ping 172.16.0.2 -s 2000

2008 bytes from 172.16.0.2: icmp_seq=4 ttl=63 time=77.3 ms
2008 bytes from 172.16.0.2: icmp_seq=5 ttl=63 time=75.9 ms
2008 bytes from 172.16.0.2: icmp_seq=6 ttl=63 time=70.4 ms
2008 bytes from 172.16.0.2: icmp_seq=7 ttl=63 time=93.5 ms
2008 bytes from 172.16.0.2: icmp_seq=8 ttl=63 time=92.9 ms
