[srsran-users] 5G SA connection problem with Quectel (RM500Q-GL)

Hi, I have a trouble when I try to use Quectel (RM500Q-GL) to connect to
gNB. The configuration is in the following.
5GC : Open5GS
SDR: Ettus B210

I follow the tutorial in srsran document.

Quectel (RM500Q-GL) can be configured using AT commands and I configure in
5G-SA mode. I can list all the cell sites and see my cell site.

AT+COPS=?

+COPS: (1,"999 70","999 70","99970",12)


The last value ,12, means NG-RAN. I then try to connect using


AT+QCFG="usbnet",1

AT+CGDCONT=1,"IPV4V6","internet"

AT+CFUN=1,1


But when I check the connection status I got


AT+QENG="servingcell"

+QENG: "servingcell","LIMSRV","NR5G-SA","FDD",
999,70,19B01,500,7,368410,3,1,-70,-15,20,0,7680

According to the manual "LIMSRV" means


"LIMSRV" UE is camping on a cell but has not registered on the network.


I checked the signal level and It seems to be ok. But, somehow, Quectel
(RM500Q-GL) cannot register to the network. Any idea what the problem is? I
also want to make sure that the problem is not from the SIM card.

I am using the SIM Card from

I try to configure SIM card as stated in the manual.


./pySim-shell.py -p0 --script ./scripts/deactivate-5g.script


This seems to deactivate 5G since the script file disables all 5G fields.
Now, I am confused.


Then, I follow this guide from the link in the document with a new SIM card

It still does not work.   In the guide above I dont even know what the
value of

Routing Indicator shoud be. Can I just set to 0x0


"The Routing Indicator is a four-byte file but the actual Routing Indicator
goes into bytes 0 and 1 (the other bytes are reserved). To set the Routing
Indicator to 0x71:

pySIM-shell (MF/ADF.USIM/DF.5GS/EF.Routing_Indicator)> update_binary 0071ffff

You can also set the routing indicator to 0x0, which is *valid* and means
"routing indicator not specified", leaving it to the modem. "

I did not change PLMN. It is till 999 70 from the factory. What is the
exact way to set the SIM card from sysmocom? I checked the mailing list and
saw that Quectel (RM500Q-AE) can be used with srsran 5G. I am not sure what
I miss in the configuration.
