Hi List,

from [1] I've learned that there's both Intra-eNB and S1 handover supported by srsRAN; I
might be a bit new to the whole 3GPP nomenclature, so I hope I'm not messing up the
following questions:

- Intra-eNB handover happens without srsEPC noticing it; is that right?
   - How does the split between srsENB and srsEPC map to the CU / DU split in 5g?

- S1 handover is documented to be unsupported the srsEPC, but supported through replacing
that with Open5GS.
   - What's the intrinsic reason for that? Software complexity? Lack of contributor to
implement that?
   - Supporting other EPCs does sound pretty involved; how well has that proven to work
over the air?

- I'm mostly interested in improving the abilities of UEs and the infrastructure to
predict good points in time to initiate handovers, so a first step would be observing the
messages exchanged between EPC and xNB.
   - What kind of visibility of channel conditions do I get there?
   - Are there sensible dissectors for wireshark or even better a good logging
infrastructure that can be used for debugging & development?

Best regards,
Marcus M
